How to Hide Affiliate Links

Yesterday I discussed Affiliate Links and gave you some ideas of where to get started. Hopefully you went and checked out some of those options and maybe found some products that you think you can promote on your site. Today, I’ve created a video to show you how to clean up those affiliate links so they don’t look so ugly.

As you can see it’s a real simple process. You are going to log in to your WordPress dashboard, download a plugin called GoCodes, and use that program to hide your affiliate links. This will keep people from stilling your links and throwing their own code in them. It will also give readers the impression that they are just clicking around inside of your blog, as opposed to clicking on affiliate links. This plugin has worked wonders on my other sites. Like I said, I keep the link hiding to a minimum on this site. (Full Disclosure… Remember?)

Anyway, please comment below if you found this helpful at all. I really do appreciate all the interaction I have been receiving from people. I like to know when people find what I’m giving them valuable. Please comment. Share your thoughts, questions, better ideas, etc. below!

Tomorrow I will be giving you some awesome free tools for internet marketers. I will also give a progress report on my coaching with Alex Jeffreys. Trust me, good things are starting to happen!

Great stuff just like always, Matt! I’ve heard of so many people getting their sales ripped off because they don’t even think about cloaking their links like this.

I’m liking the video idea on here, I think it makes it SO much easier to learn!

Yep. Hiding affiliate links is important. I don’t do it much on this site because I know my readers are smarter than that. :) You can’t do sneaky internet marketing tricks to other internet marketers…

I’m going to try to make a point to create at least one video per week. If it catches on and others like them, maybe I’ll bump that up a little. I did enjoy making the video.

Hey, that’s a GREAT video, Matt, and an awesome plugin! This will save me SO much time over my usual creation of a PHP redirect file, uploading to my server, etc.

    Nice!

Yea. I always see people talking about doing the php redirects, not that it’s a particularly hard method, but this is just so much easier. You can even go in to the settings and change the keyword from “Go” to anything you want. So I can use redirects that say matthewwolfe.com/recommends/producta if I wanted. Same functions as redirects with less steps. Gotta love it.

      Thanks for commenting Bill!

Great plugin Matt and even better video. You really make it easy for someone to get this plugin up and running.

I really like the fact that you can see how many times the link was clicked, without leaving the WordPress Dashboard. I use Google Analytics but sometimes like to get a quick glimpse of my stats without leaving WordPress. This does the trick.

Yea. It’s really cool too because you can make sure the affiliates are be honest as well. If your click count doesn’t match up with the affiliate’s, you know somethings wrong.

      Thanks for the comment!

This is a great WordPress plugin, and I had no idea it existed! It makes hiding your affiliate links so much easier – I did a blog post about it on my blog a while ago, you can see it here: http://www.petra-weiss.com/how-to-hide-affiliate-links.html, but I have to say I like your idea even better! I will have to keep popping in here because you give some great information!

People will definitely steal links. If they are a member of clickbank, they can replace your code with theirs and get a discount basically. Thanks for the comment!
